Reading with comprehension is the goal of reading instruction. Achieving this goal requires students to develop and use sub-skills such as accuracy and fluency, and have a strong vocabulary and good general knowledge . It also involves being able to use a variety of processes such as inferencing, understanding of syntax, and making connections. These skills can be taught explicitly to improve comprehension.

This seminar is suitable for F-6 classroom and specialist teachers, school executive, and support staff as it examines the development of students from beginning to skilled readers.
